Houses are full of memories. When I close my eyes, I can still picture every room in my childhood house. How we used to play Nintendo in the living room, watch movies in my parent’s room, all 6 of us snuggled up on the bed and of course all those family dinners at the table. There were games played in the backyard, there was the time we slid down the stairs on a piece of cardboard (it hurts just thinking about it now) and of course our bedrooms filled with all our childhood treasures.
Of course I have many memories of the house, but there are also so many things I wish we had captured. I would love to have pictures of our crazy Christmas cookie baking sessions. Or a picture of one of the many forts we built out of that ugly, yet well loved brown couch. So many things that felt truly ordinary in the moment, but shape a big part of my childhood memories. These are things that I try to capture of my own children for their future. And these are the moments that I try to capture for my clients.
This is a session that I did a few years ago for a family that is very near and dear to my heart. We have been friends since we met when our oldest children were in daycare together and continue to be good friends today. I felt honored that they invited me into their home to capture their story. The story of an ordinary Saturday for their family.
Since this session, they have moved and sold this house. While they are making so many new and amazing memories in their new home, I know they treasure all the memories that they captured here.
And with that, here is the H Family and our Saturday adventure.
